ALCEA TECHNOLOGIES INC. - CORPORATE RESUME
Incorporated in April 1997, Alcea was created by a group of individuals who shared the same vision of an Information Technology (IT) company. Their vision was a company that delivers a broad base of information technology solutions that meets the needs of both the clients and of the technology professionals working to deliver them. Each founding member of Alcea brought their own individual IT experiences to the table, thus making Alcea's strengths diverse. These strength cover numerous technical fields including database management, quality assurance, programming, and Internet technologies, among many.
Alcea is structured into four distinct strategic business units that cover an array of technology solutions. These units include:
· IT Staffing & Placement Services: Whether it.s a client looking to fill a position with either a contractor or an employee, or it.s a technology professional looking for contract or permanent employment, our IT Staffing & Placement Services department can deliver. Alcea has a database of over 10,000 technology professionals with various different technology and experience backgrounds. We are also well connected with clients in both the public and private sector. This mix, along with our belief of having an open and honest relationship between all parties involved on a contract, is our key to success.
· System Integration: Through our work as a prime integrator, and as support on several development projects, Alcea has experience in all phases of the system development life cycle. We have developed a rigorous methodology, which allows us to manage our development project efficiently and effectively and allows us to deliver top quality solutions that keeps in mind the budget constraints of our clients.
· Database Services: This department focuses on the outsourcing the database administration function, and doing so either remotely through secure virtual private network (VPN) connectivity, or through scheduled on-site visits. By using our Database Services, our clients can save thousands of dollars on employee salaries & benefits, re-training costs, recruitment costs, and other staffing related costs. Alcea offers 24/7 on call service for our Database Services clients.
· Software Development: The newest of our business units, the Software Group develops and markets off-the-shelf software for straight resale. Our first product, FastBugTrack, is an easy to install, competitively priced, web-based software bug tracking system geared towards small and medium sized organizations.
Alcea's clients include several agencies in the Canadian Federal Government, such as the Natural Sciences & Engineering Research Council, Canadian Human Rights Commission, and National Defence, just to name a few. Alcea also has clients in the private sector developing and supporting applications for Bell Canada, Bank of Montreal, Spidertop and Youtopia.com.
Alcea believes in contributing to the community, each year choosing several local charities to assist in their fundraising efforts. Some of these charities have included, The Children's Wish Foundation, The Snowsuit Fund, and the Shepherds of Good Hope.
Alcea Technologies is a corporate sponsor of Wired Women, an organization devoted to women in the high-tech industry. Last year, Alcea Technologies was recognized as one of 25 "Up and Coming" IT Companies in Canada by The Branham Group, and this year was ranked in the top 100 IT Service Companies in Canada.
Alcea's plans are to continue to grow as a solution provider. Several new commercial products are scheduled for development and release over 2002, as well as continuing to improve our existing product, Fast BugTrack.
